Long ago, when clouds were little talked about and the Internet was much talked about, almost every company wanted to have its own website. But in order for others to see it, this website had to be hosted somewhere. The hosting provider market was practically non-existent, so for this purpose, companies had to buy a physical server and “run” the website on it.
Large businesses could afford such expenses. But small companies did not always have the opportunity to buy a server, provide it with 24-hour power supply, cooling, and hire a specialist ( or even several ) to solve the problems of its administration and maintenance.
In response to this need, other companies began to purchase servers and rent them out wordpress web design agency to those who needed IT capacity but could not afford the cost of a server. First, physical server rental services appeared, and a little over 10 years ago, the IaaS service appeared on the Russian market.
What is IaaS
Infrastructure-as-a-Service ( IaaS ) is a service delivery model in which the consumer receives cloud resources ( vCPU, RAM, disk ) in the form of a service.
Such services are provided by cloud providers. The physical "foundation" of Infrastructure-as-a-Service are hardware servers and storage systems located in data centers. A hypervisor is installed on them, with the help of which the virtual machines ( VM ) are allocated the required amount of resources.
A company renting resources using the IaaS model can avoid capital expenditures ( CAPEX ) on building its own site and simply receive exactly as many resources as it needs at the moment.

Advantages of IaaS service
Flexible scaling
If at some point the company decides that the rented resources are not enough - for example, the business opens a new direction, launches digital services or applications - their volume can be increased in just a few clicks. If instead of the cloud the company used its own IT platform, to expand it it would have to purchase new equipment, connect it and configure it. And this is provided that the size of its own server room would allow this.
The same applies to reducing the resources consumed. If a company previously rented a volume of resources, and later the need for them disappeared, the capacities that are no longer needed can simply be turned off.

Provider's liability
When organizing your own IT site, the company itself is responsible for the operability of the equipment. In order for the servers to work correctly, it is necessary to provide them with an uninterrupted supply of electricity, the required temperature regime, and fault-tolerant communication channels. You will also need a team of IT specialists who will be responsible for maintaining the operability of the machines, replacing components, administering, and other tasks.
